This a favorite! November 21, 2005 K. Russ (Heidelberg, Germany) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I am highly recommending this toy because the little pieces don't have to go on the pole in a set order. The pole is a dowel and the holes in the rings are all the same size thus the child can get them all on at a much earlier age - doesn't need to understand biggest ring first. Secondly, it's size allows it to fit in a carry-bag for a toy on the run; I used it as entertainment in restaurants easily. Thirdly, I am still using it because now we are into learning colors. It was well worth the investment.
No batteries! Yay! June 13, 2006 Mary E. Lewis (New York, NY) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought this for my 18 month old daughter who loves her plastic fisher-price ring stacker. She loves this one more. She will play with this toy for an hour and she has already learned how to reverse the order of the pieces and moves them from post to post.
Excellent toy November 17, 2007 M. C. Porterfield (Sonoma County, CA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
All you need to do is look at this stacker toy to know it has obvious teaching potential. Saw it in one of our more creative toy stores and bought it. My son when he was 15 months old, and he was fascinated the moment I gave it to him. He still plays at it for long periods, he is now 19 months old. I couldn't keep all of the pieces together, so I remedied this by keeping it in the bathroom along with only a few other toys. Perfect solution - - he plays with it while I shower and get ready. It keeps him quite entertained. The pieces are then easy to pick up and stow in the corner. I have not had problems with the durability or paint, except for one ring which he threw in the damp tub. I did not notice it for over 24 hours and much of the paint chipped off. User error. We love this toy.
i love this company! January 16, 2007 Jen Schellings (the zoo) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
melissa & doug's has quite a good selection of toys. we own a few & will be getting more. i wish them longevity & good business! i bought this stacker a few months ago for my then 19 month old son who was getting frustrated with his donut stacker because they wouldn't fit out of order. i also want him to have more wooden toys & fewer plastics. the straight pegs on this make stacking & sorting so much more fun for him as all the blocks will fit any of the 3 pegs in any order. he plays with it everyday . it's also good for dual play, helping to teach sharing & turns by each one taking a turn to put something on & take something off. it makes clean up time fun by making a game of putting all the blocks back on when he's done playing with it. so far the blocks have been thrown, banged together & also used as they were meant to be used & they are holding up to the toddler usage. a good solid piece of work, bright colors, a good price & something that can be used for many years without seeming 'babyish', maybe even passed on to a future generation.
UPDATE...2 years of play & this set has held up. There are a few chips to the edges, but that's to be expected.
It is still played with & is a toy I will hold onto.
Great learning, great value January 3, 2008 mom (Houston) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love that this toy is great for a wide range of ages. My 10 month old got it for Christmas and is great at dumping the blocks off and getting a few back on. My 2 and 5-year-old girls love it too. They can do higher level stacking and sorting by color, shape, and size. I love that all the shapes fit all the poles and the squares can be put together in different combinations, even if they aren't the same size. This morning I found myself playing with it alone while I was on the phone in the playroom, and my girls were all playing with something else.
